Crew Discipleship Ministry

If you want to experience God in a significant way, consider joining us this summer!

Our Summer Crew Discipleship Program is an 11-week ministry opportunity for young adults, ages 18-25, to serve our guest families alongside our camp staff, and invest in their journey of faith. We desire to nurture and mentor those who have a heart to serve one another in community and learn and grow in their calling to serve Jesus Christ.

Crew can earn up to $3000 by the end of the summer! ($275 per week)

Crew 2025

Summer Overview

Crew Training - May 31-June 13, 2024

To prepare all crew for their summer responsibilities, Cedar will conduct an extensive training program as soon as you arrive at camp: introducing you to the staff community, equipping you with the skills needed for your position, and teaching you about living and serving with the attitude of Christ.

Family Camp Ministries

Our summer ministry primarily consists of family camps. Campers arrive on Saturday afternoon and depart on Friday morning. At Cedar Bay, we have two camp facilities that exist on both sides of Prentiss Bay - Mariners Cove and Old Mill Point. We continuously operate two separate family camps simultaneously throughout the summer. Along with serving in a department, there will be many opportunities for you to engage with guests and participate in the programming.

Pursue God in the Company of Friends

Along with serving in a department, we desire for Crew to grow in community away from the distractions that may come from their lives at home. Crew are invited to be involved in weekly worship nights, family-group sessions, and evening activities led by our Cedar Bay Staff Family. Crew will also have the opportunity to meet weekly with a mentor, either one-on-one or in a small group cohort, to discuss and learn about Biblical topics of their choosing.

How Can I Serve at Cedar?

Program Crew

This team is responsible for teaching scripture to children and youth during the morning and evening and serving in various program areas in the afternoons (stores, kitchen, recreation).

Program Hosts*

You are the upfront contact for Cedar Bay to our campers. You will be supporting our events by running audio-visual, leading the campers in prayers and announcements, setting up meeting spaces, and more. You will be working both with our guest groups and with our Cedar Bay programs to ensure a quality experience for our campers during their week. This person must be comfortable and engaging in front of people, be a self-starter, and have a heart for service and hospitality.

Kitchen Crew

This team works together to prepare and serve meals to our guests in both of our dining halls. While prior experience is not necessary, a teachable spirit, a servant’s heart, and a willingness to work as a part of a team to serve in this area.

Dining Room Coordinator*

This person oversees the operations of the dining hall and the dish crew. You will lead a team of people in cleaning the dishes and being responsible for setting up and maintaining the dining hall.

Housekeeping Crew

This team works together to aid in keeping Cedar free of distractions for the guests by maintaining the cleanliness of our facilities. You will develop an eye for detail while working with a team to serve our guests. You will have the opportunity to develop some leadership skills as you direct teams for our weekly camp turnovers.

Recreation Crew

This team is involved with the operations and maintenance of the recreation areas of the camp. Areas of responsibility include afternoon waterfront supervision, teaching sailing classes, operating our pontoon boat cruises, trail work, and setting up special recreation activities.

Buildings & Grounds Crew

This team supports the program by maintaining the grounds and working on special projects throughout the summer to enhance the facilities. Working alongside our maintenance team is an opportunity to build skills. Prior experience is not necessary, but one must be a self-starter and able to be given a task and see it to completion.

Photographer

This specialist role will capture moments of family campers enjoying their time at Cedar, and assist the Ministry Engagement Specialist with different communication throughout the summer. Prior experience with a camera is valued, but not necessary.

Office Crew

This team must have a welcoming, cheerful, and hospitable spirit. Their responsibility will be to provide a welcoming environment at our front desk by answering campers’ needs and maintaining an organized space.

*Leadership Positions - require a few extra training days prior to crew training week

Ministry Support

Waterfront Crew

Partners in ministry play an important role in supporting you as a summer crew member to thrive and serve well throughout the summer. Upon being hired, each staff member is asked to submit 20 names of friends, family members, and churches who may be interested in being a part of a personal ministry team. This ministry team has three components: Prayer Support, Financial Support, and Encouragement Support.

As Cedar Bay provides the payment for all of the Crew, financial support from family and friends will help to offset your salary and enable us to provide competitive salaries to all of our staff serving our guests this summer.
